Our Pleasant Community

The word Pahrump, a Paiute term, has been interpreted to mean “water rock” or “place where big waters flow.” Reports have shown that Pahrump Valley sits on a huge aquifer of approximately 22 million acre-feet of water.

If you are looking for a touch of rural life with the convenience of Las Vegas just 63 miles away, then Pahrump is the answer. Visit the country-like atmosphere with clean, fresh air, plenty of good water and friendly people who are glad to call you neighbor. We have low taxes, no personal or corporate taxes, very affordable housing and an
easy-flowing lifestyle.

Our Comfortable Lifestyle
In Pahrump, people are relaxed and enjoy life because there is no traffic to fight, very little crime and more time to do the things they enjoy. The breath-taking sunsets with the picturesque Mt. Charleston and the Spring Mountains to the east and the Nopah Vista Mountains to the west are a sight to behold.

The Winery
One of the area’s most popular attractions is the Pahrump Valley Vineyards, Nevada’s only winery. Currently the award-winning wine is made from California juices. But eventually the vineyard will produce wine from the vines again recently planted (it seems the wild horses are crazy about the grapevines the winery had previously tried to grow). Tours and tastings are offerred daily. The gift shop sells unusual gifts and their Award-winning wines. The gourmet restaurant, “Tastings,” offers lunch and dinner served daily (reservations required: call 702-727-6900 or 800-368-9463).

Schools and Family
Pahrump’s good clean environment is ideal for raising kids. The very low crime rate is an added feature of this very family-oriented community. The Nye County School District provides five quality public schools with an enrollment of over 2,500 students. Plans in the near future will provide for an additional elementary school and another high school. You may call the Southern Administration Office at 702-727-7743 for more information about our schools.

Housing
Pahrump offers a variety of housing opportunities, with the availability of inexpensive land to suit all needs. Several excellent licensed contractors will build one of the many model homes available or work with you on a custom home from your plans. Many people have found building costs to be far below urban estimates. If you prefer a manufactured home, you can choose from a variety of styles available from the many dealerships in the valley at very affordable prices.

Land
If you just wish to purchase land, you may choose a parcel that has water and sewer available, or a larger parcel of raw land and put in your own well and septic system and develop it the way you want. Whichever way you choose, one of the many real estate offices in Pahrump will be glad to assist you in your needs.
